Buckwheat Porridge (Kasha)
Easy and simple way to make porridge.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of buckwheat
- 2 cups of water
- ½ teaspoon of salt
Preparation
- In an averaged sized pot, boil a cup of water with salt.
- Add the cup of buckwheat into the boiling water.
- Add the second cup of water, and wait till it boils.
- Make the heat low, and cover the pot.
- Wait for 15-20 minutes, and serve.
You may add milk when serving. (Serves about three people.)
Winter Buckwheat Breakfast
New interesting combination.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of soaked buckwheat
- 8 soaked dates
- 1 apple (peeled, cored and diced)
- 2 tablespoons of shredded unsweetened coconut
- Cinnamon and Nutmeg, to add taste.
- 1 cup of almond milk, best at room temperature or warmed
- ¾ cup of raisins
Preparation
Put everything in a blender or food processor with blank plate.
Add bananas, or other soaked dried fruits, to enhance taste.
Medical Buckwheat Drink
Full of enzymes, minerals, vitamins and protein!
For people who have low blood sugar and need more protein.
Ingredients
Preparation
- Soak the buckwheat in water for 3 hours.
- Drain and germinate the buckwheat overnight.
- Place the buckwheat in the blender and blend until smooth.
Note: Adding soaked almonds, sunflower and/or pumpkin seeds to the Buckwheat Drink will keep blood sugar levels stable throughout the day. The Buckwheat Drink replaces soy or rice protein shakes that are so popular today and does not have the side effects of constipation and bloating that so many people experience.
Lentil Buckwheat Loaf Recipe
Ingredients
- 4oz Roasted Buckwheat
- 1 Carrot
- 1 Onion
- 6oz Red Lentils
- 1 pint of veg stock
- Dried herbs (parsley and rosemary are recommended)
- 1 tsp of Marmite
- A pinch of Nutmeg
- Salt and Pepper as you think is necessary
Preparation
- Chop onion and carrot, into a fairly large saucepan
- Add all other ingredients, and bring it to a boil
- Let it simmer for 30 minutes, until liquid is absorbed
- Preheat oven to 200C/400F/Gas Mark 6
- Put the mixture in loaf/flan dish
- Put the loaf/flan dish in the oven.
- Leave it in the oven for 30 minutes.
